ABOUT US - À PROPOS

Jac Cadeaux was founded in Sydney, Australia in 2017 by Claudia Stahl, a lifelong Francophile who completed part of her tertiary schooling in French-speaking Switzerland and later lived for five years in Paris, studying the French language.

Our name derives from the initials of Claudia and her two daughters, Juliette and Ava, while cadeaux is French for “gifts”. Claudia and her daughters are all fluent French speakers, the girls having commenced their educations at the Lycée Condorcet in Sydney.

Jac Cadeaux’s own infancy played out in the lively weekend markets of Sydney’s eastern suburbs and lower north shore. Claudia’s stall with its striped awning and the timeless staple of Breton-striped tops and cotton dresses became a familiar sight in Sunday markets of Mosman, Kirribilli, Watson’s Bay and in the Southern Highlands.

Claudia’s enjoyment of one-on-one relationships with our customers, which has carried through in our brand’s transition to online retailing, continues to underline her commitment to designing classic, stylish, casual wear for women, that will be wardrobe go-tos for years.

Jac Cadeaux’s staple is the iconic Breton stripe print, which we produce in a variety of long-sleeved tops, T-shirts, sweaters and dresses. We introduce new variations on these classic themes, along with our constantly evolving range of  jeans, trench coats, bags and accessories.

Our garments are exclusively crafted from rich, natural fibres such as linen, cotton, Australian merino wool and cashmere. We design and manufacture our own ranges, as well as offering selected products from partner brands in Paris and Australia.

“I believe that at the heart of French style is the art of using everyday luxuries to create an effortless look,” Claudia says. “French style is that cool, underworked look that is passed down from mother to daughter. Our range of clothing is designed to build a French style capsule that you can mix and match and we are delighted to bring a little je ne sais quoi to your wardrobe."
