Many of you have kindly said how lovely it is that you can message or call Jac Cadeaux and receive a reply directly from me. Today, I thought I’d share a little behind-the-scenes look at a typical day running our brand.
6:30am – The day begins
The first thing I do is check messages from customers. Many arrive overnight, so I spend some quiet time replying to questions about sizing, fabrics or styling. I truly love this part of the business; my direct connection with the women who wear Jac Cadeaux.
7:00am – A little social inspiration
Next comes posting on social media. Sometimes it’s a new piece, sometimes a styling idea or a little Parisian inspiration. I’ll also use this time to go over some favourite news and fashion sites (my print magazines are for the weekends), noting the moods and trends in France, greater Europe and elsewhere.
8:00am – Getting dressed and packing orders
Time to get dressed for the day (one of the perks of working in fashion). Then I start fulfilling orders, carefully packing pieces to dispatch to welcoming wardrobes around Australia.
Mid-morning – Trip to the post office
I drive to the local post office to send off your parcels. While there, I often pop into the supermarket to do a quick grocery shop before heading home to continue work.
Late morning – Back to business
Once home, the real behind-the-scenes work begins. This typically includes:
• Updating the website • Checking stock levels and doing stocktakes • Writing briefs and engaging with content creators • Liaising with our manufacturer about upcoming pieces • Speaking with our advertising agency to make sure everything is ticking along as it should.

Tuesdays – Claire day
On Tuesdays I work closely with my colleague Claire. She previously worked at Camilla and has more than 30 years of experience in fashion. Claire is wonderful at gently pushing me outside my comfort zone (I tend to be a little risk-averse!)
Together we work on planning, strategy, exploring new suppliers and categories, and we’ve even given the website a little facelift recently.
Evening – Winding down
I love finishing the day with a walk with Susi, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, before winding down for the evening. Most recently I’ve been trying to get into bed early so I can continue watching the series Love Story: John F Kennedy and Carolyn Bessette – I’m completely hooked.
Running Jac Cadeaux is busy, varied, and sometimes a little chaotic. Naturally, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
