January invites us to slow down, step out and enjoy the social and cultural pleasures of our towns and cities. For me, this has been one to spend close to home, with a short break to the South Coast of NSW. The weather has been unseasonably fresh and had me reaching for my ever-present knits.
I will be back in Sydney to work on Monday. Nonetheless, I'm hoping to profitez (take advantage of) from Sydney in January, when the city's pace will be somewhat in holiday mode.
There's an exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW titled 'Dangerously Modern: Australian Women Artists in Europe 1890-1940' that I'm planning to see. I also hope to get to a French film or two, do the open air cinema at the Royal Botanic Gardens, and see a few things in the Sydney Festival. How about you?
As to New Years Resolutions. I finished last year knowing how to play mahjong. I will continue to play this year, once a week. I think each day can be a mini new year. I hope to work hard and learn new things. I did a small online course in Artificial Intelligence last year, which I need to brush up on. Oh, and I need to do a massive clean-out of my house/office. Decluttering is such a great therapy, isn't it .... ?
I think my greatest aspirations is to have fun and find some joy in each day. One day at a time.
Joyeux Janvier
