Fashion & Sustainability

Fashion & Sustainability

There’s a lot of talk about sustainability in the fashion industry - yet the industry has apparently always thrived on built-in obsolescence.
Looking at the fashions paraded on catwalks, today's outlandish outfit is destined for next season's scrapheap.
A look over our Jac Cadeaux website through the past six years will tell you our attitude towards sustainability. We have built our brand on timeless French style; classic, simple staples such as the Breton stripe top, which we still sell today.
Our brand is about enduring styles and the subtle evolution of designs.
We make our pieces to last, in styles that our customers can wear year after year.
You’ll see there’s nothing outlandish or frivolous, nothing that will go out of fashion or will soon look out of place.
Offering enduring apparel that you will enjoy for years is, to us, not just sustainable - it’s sensible.
You may also notice, on looking through our website, that some pieces are sold out or pre-order. That’s because we manufacture in small batches - and even as our brand grows, we err on the side of producing conservatively.
On the rare occasion when we have had a mis-cue with a design, we have engaged with Thread Together, an organisation based on the simple idea for brands to donate rather than dispose of unsold clothing. Surplus stock is then distributed to the needy.
Finally, we are a small business and I deal with all customer service myself. In that way - the best way - I keep my finger on the pulse of what Jac Cadeaux's customers want.
